New year, new you, right? As we all look to set new goals and things to achieve in 2023, getting healthy is probably one of those items. If so, you’re not alone. Exercising, eating right and losing weight are common contenders when January 1 comes along. While these are great resolutions, drinking more water and focusing on your hydration is also one way to get healthier and listen to your body.
Not sure where to get started? Don’t worry, we’re giving you six super simple ways to hit your hydration goals this year (hint: it’s all about creating new habits!).
Hydrate when you wake up
Speaking of creating habits, try this one: right after your alarm goes off, drink some water. This is a great way to start your day off on the right foot and sets the rest of your day in motion.
Hydrating in the morning is great but in order to reach your goals you need more. As the day goes on, it’s easy to get caught up in our busy lives. Our suggestion is to set alarms as friendly reminders in your phone or on your calendar. This will give you the motivation you need to pick up the water bottle and quit forgetting to hydrate!
Have a competition
Nothing gets us motivated like a little friendly competition, right? Whether its with friends in a group text or coworkers around the office, get a group of people together who motivate you and encourage you. When you’re not the only one doing something, it will help you stick to it.
Experiment with your water
Something we hear a lot is how water can be “boring.” We get it, there’s not much to it. Spice up your water by adding fruits and veggies like lemon or cucumbers, or try these other ideas that will keep you hydrated and taste amazing.
Treat yourself to a new water bottle
If you didn’t ask for a new water bottle this year for Christmas, then chances are you’re still using the same one from 2022 (or likely even before!). That’s OK, but human condition tells us if something is new, we’ll use it more. Splurge a little and find a water bottle color and style you love.
Eat more hydrating food
This tip goes hand in hand with getting healthier. Hydrating food has tons of amazing properties in it, so consider it killing two birds with one stone: you’re eating better and hydrating—your body will thank you.
The new year is all about fresh starts and new beginnings. If getting healthy is on your list, we applaud you, and encourage you to think about how you’re hydrating as well. One of the best ways to know if you’re hydrating properly is to monitor it. Wearable technology like SweatID helps users know when and how much to rehydrated.
